The purpose of this research is examine the influence is resulting from the variabel of the decentralized structure on the work performance of the regional government official with the complexity of the task being the mediator variable and the influence of the decentralization structure directly on the work performance of the regionl governmental officials in the Forestry, Agricultural and Husbandry Departments of the city of Ambon. The respondens comprised of officials echelon II, III, and IV from the Foresty, Agricultural and Husbandry Departments of the city of Ambon. Purposive sampling is the technique used for analyzing the data. The result of the analysis of this research show that the decentralized struture influences the complexity of the task and the decentralized structure influences the work perfomance of the official through the task complexity variabel, and the polices of the regional government of the city Ambon in relation to the joing together of various local government departmens is the appropriate policy in the attemp to overcome the complex task
