Background : Unhealthy lifestyle such as high lipid dietary, and imbalance exercise could implicates high triglyceride level in blood. Diosgenin, one of saponin compound in Dioscorea bulbifera, proved lowering triglyceride level in serum by effecting absorpsion and synthesis of lipid mechanism. Dioscorea bulbifera is one of the most commont tuber plant in Java, Indonesia. Aim : This study is to know the impact of Dioscorea bulbifera at lowering triglyceride level in blood. Methods : In vivo experimental study with measured pre-test and post-test of triglyceride level. Twenty seven rats were used and distributed to 3 groups: control group (no intervention), group one (simvastatin intervention), and group two (Dioscorea bulbifera intervention). Diet rich in lipid composed of 2 grams lard and 1 gram quail egg yolk was induced for 14 days. Triglyceride level was measured from blood sampling at 22th and 49th day, twice for each rat using Multicare tool. Results : Saphiro-Wilk test shows the data was normally distributed (p= 0,416), T dependent test shows there’s no significant difference within Dioscorea bulbifera intervention in hyperlipidemic rats (p= 0,217). Conclusion : There’s no significant difference within Dioscorea bulbifera intervention in hyperlipidemic rats. |
