Isi artikelInstructional Technology (IT) as a discipline develops concurrently with technology and other sciences vastly. IT had experienced a few phases of development as perceived through definitions commenced by AECT, the oldest professional organization. Several individual experts had also redefined IT in order to synergize its meaning in regard to professions, practice, research and technology development. New definitions of IT launched by AECT and Reiser strengthen the roles of IT in various educational settings, schools and training centers in organizations. AECT evev adopts the concept of ICT to conduct online/distance learning. IT is advantageous in improving the quality of learning and performance in the workplace.
