Background : Hypertension is one of non-communicable diseases that causes higher morbidity and mortality rate.1 According to result of National Basic Health Research 2013, hypertension was the second largest cause of death after stroke with death proportion amounting to 6,8% for all ages with national prevalence reaching 26,5% and Jambi prevalence reaching 24,6% in inhabitants aging 18 years and above.3 Methods : Analytical study with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted with patients who came to visit Puskesmas Inpres 5/74 Tanjung Pinang Jambi City during October – December, with a sample of 100 people. The data collection was executed using questionnaire and statistically processed with SPSS program. The data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis using chi-square test at a 0,05 along with multivariate analysis with logistic regression method.
Result : Bivariate analysis shows that there are 4 variables that become the risk factor of hypertension: age (p = 0,002 ; OR = 0,24), education degree (p = 0,002 ; OR = 4,44) , vegetable and fruit diet (p =0,005 ; OR = 0,20), and Body Mass Index (p = 0,000 ; OR = 0,12). Multivariate analysis indicates that the most dominant factor that causing hypertension is education degree. Conclusion : The conclusion of this research is that the variables that can be the risk factors of hypertension incident in Puskesmas Inpres 5/74 Tanjung Pinang Jambi City are age, education degree, vegetable and fruit diet, and Body Mass Index. The dominant factor with the highest influence is people’s education degree. |
