Background : Indonesia is a tropical contry with a lot of vector borne diseases. Mosquito is one of the vector thet caused endemic diseases such as filariasis, dengue fever, chikungunya and malaria. Culex sp. known as the vector of lymphatic filariasis. Based on the data obtained by the Ministry of Health (MoH) of the Republic of Indonesia in 2010, cases of filariasis in Indonesia had increased by almost 50% from 2000 to 2009. The commercial insecticide mostly contains dangerous chemical ingredient, which unhealthy and not environment friendly. Therefore, we need a healtier , natural and, environmental friendly choices insecticide, such as soursop leaves (A.muricata L.). Methods :This study used laboratory experimental design. Sample used on this study is Culex sp. and for each test, 10 Culex sp. mosquitoes are required. The test done by evaporation of the extract in 3%, 5% and 7% concentrations onto the mosqitoes inside a glass chamber Results :Based on test results, soursop leaves (A.muricata L.) extracts with concentration of 3%, 5% and 7% caused lethal effect to 100% of Culex sp.mosquito. Meanwhile, the outcome of statistical effectiveness tests on soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) as insecticides on Culex sp. mosquitoes by using Kruskal-Wallis test showed no significant results . Conclusions :Soursop leaves (A.muricata L.) extract do have insecticidal effect based on the test. Concentration of 7% soursop leaves (A. muricata L.) extracts has the fastest KD50 and KD100 on 86±1 minutes and 46±1 minutes respectively. The higher concentration of soursop leaves (A.muricata L.) extract, the faster KD50 and KD100 obtained. |
