Stress on medical students varies on the rate of 21% to 56% which implies a high rate. At a stress condition, people will adapt using a coping mechanism that is based on problem (problem-focused coping) or emotion (emotion-focused coping). Method. The design of this research is categorial descriptive with cross-sectional approach, sample was taken randomly from 135 participants of Medical Students Class of 2012 in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. Participants are given Indonesian version of Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS42) questionnaire and The Ways of Coping Questionnaire (WOCQ) questionnaire. Results. Stress prevalence on Medical Students Class of 2012 in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia is 62,2% and the most used coping mechanism used by Medical Students Class of 2012 in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia is Problem Focused Coping at 70,4%. Conclusion. The prevalence of stress on Medical Students Class of 2012 in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia is higher than the other research which is similar. The most used coping mechanism by Medical Students Class of 2012 in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia is Problem Focused Coping. The coping mechanism used is suitable and appropriate.
