The incidence of surgical site infection (SSI) in developing countries reached 38.7% from 1.2% at 1995-2008, along with an increase in morbidity compared to patients who didn’t undergo SSI. Perforated appendicitis is an abdominal emergency requiring immediate surgery, resulting in the unpreparedness on the patient’s condition. This study aims to determine the risk factors of the patient’s condition to the occurrence of SSI using observational analytic cross sectional study in 25 patients with perforated appendicitis in Atma Jaya Hospital. Chi-Square and non-parametric test obtained the following results: nutritional status, diabetes mellitus history, albumin level, pre-surgery shock condition, and ASA status have statistically significant effect on the incidence of SSI in patients with perforated appendicitis (P<0.05),while age, sex, BMI, immunocompromised history, platelet, haemoglobin, haemotocrit, and leukocyte levels do not. |
