Abstract
Background : Pulmonary Tuberculosis ( TB ) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis , an acid-resistant bacteria that usually attacks the lungs but can also attack other body systems . This disease is an infectious disease that most often causes of death in the world . A study by Dooley KE et all have shown results that patients with diabetes type 2 (DM2) had two times higher odds of death than those who do not have DM2 and treatment failure occurred in 6,7% of patients with DM2 .
Methodology : Descriptive retrospective study. The study was conducted on patients of Atma Jaya hospital with a total sample of 200 people. Data collected by observation and recording of data from the medical record in the Atma Jaya hospital from 2011 to 2015.
Results : Bivariate analysis showed that the period of hospital stay of pulmonary TB with DM2 patients in Atma Jaya hospital takes 7.29 days in average, for men it take 7,63 days and women 6,95 days in average. Meanwhile, the period of hospital stay of pulmonary TB without DM2 in Atma Jaya hospital takes 6.66 days in average. For men it take 7,1 and women 6,23 days in average. The highest incidences of pulmonary TB with or without DM2 is in the productive age group range from 25 to 64 years old. Men have higher incidences than women in pulmonary TB with or without DM2.
Conclusion : The average period of hospital stay of pulmonary TB with DM2 patients is 7,29 days while the average period of hospital stay of pulmonary TB without DM2 is 6,66 days
