Isi artikel
This research paper discusses an implementation of ’Storytelling’ technique in teaching English to young learners which was conducted at grade 4 of an elementary school in the northern part of Bandung. The study is a classroom action research which took place for 2 cycles. Data were collected through classroom observations and interviews to the teacher and the students. Descriptive method was applied to analyse the data. The findings show that storytelling can be considered as an innovative learning because the students seem to learn English more excitedly by telling stories. Most of them claim that they understand the lesson and memorize new vocabulary more easily. In such a good opportunity, the students enjoy the classroom activity. With regard to the teacher, storytelling technique can create classroom activities more interesting and joyful because the students are involved in. However, the teachers found some obstacles in implementing the technique because they still have lack of knowledge to make stories and demonstrate them in their teaching appropriately to the syllabus.
