Abstract
Background.Blood is composed of red blood cells containing hemoglobin for transporting oxygen throughout the body including the brain. Oxygen in the brain is useful for the combustion process will produce ATP glucose metabolism of the brain so that the brain functions running well. One of the functions of the brain is to make long-term memory, which is preceded by making short-term memory. The formation of a good short-term memory will affect the long-term memory.
Purpose. Knowing the correlation between hemoglobin levels with short-term memory in FKUAJ students.
Methodology. Design research is the study of correlation analytic cross sectional. This research was carried out using a measuring instrument and digit span Hb held at the Faculty of Medicine, Catholic University of Atma Jaya Jakarta Indonesia. Samples were taken by filtration using a questionnaire containing inclusion and exclusion criteria. The formula of the samples used is a correlation formula analytic study. Data analysis using Pearson test with 95% confidence level (a = 0.05)
Result. Pearson test results that analyze the relationship between hemoglobin levels with short-term memory showed that there was no significant relation between decreased levels of hemoglobin with short-term memory loss on the FKUAJ students (p <0.05).
Conclusion. There was no significant relation between decreased levels of hemoglobin with short-term memory loss on FKUAJ students.
