The correlation between severity of acne and quality of life is still open to controversy because there’s still differences on studies about their correlation. The aim of this study is to prove how is the statistical correlation between severity of acne and quality of life. Methods: This research is an analytic descriptive study with cross-sectional approach, involving 104 medical students in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia year 2012, 2013 and 2014. The acne vulgaris was observed and the severity was determined by Global Acne Grading System . Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) questionnaire was used to measure the quality of life of the subject. Data had been analyzed using SPSS 15.0 for Windows. Result: There is a positive correlation with low level between severity of acne vulgaris and quality of life (p=0,000,r=0,368). On boys there’s a correlation with low level between severity of acne vulgaris and quality of life (p=0,032;r=0,332), while on girls there’s also a correlation but with a moderate level (p=0,000;r=0,537). The impact of acne on quality of life worsens as age advances (p=0,000;r=0,812). Conclusion: There is a correlation between severity of acne vulgaris and quality of life among medical students in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.There is also a significant gender and age related differences in quality of life.
