Isi artikelThis research aims at finding the patterns used by English teachers (both native and nonnative) in giving comments and the effect towards the students. This is a descriptive narrative research in which the data was collected through corpus-based study and interview. Students’ documented term reports were gathered and analyzed using corpus based study to see the patterns. The participants were two native and two other non-native teachers and four students. They were interviewed to see the background and the effect of students’ term report. The result shows that there is a slightly difference between native and non-native teachers in the context of giving comments; while the words choice in giving comments is quite similar.
