Isi artikelThe purpose of this article is to make us aware of what really happens to plagiarism around our campus and how to prevent it. Plagiarism is done by students, teachers and professors around Indonesia. It happens because of our passive learning method which involves students to hear and see or to take note and memorize. The low level learning activity followed by attitude of teachers towards students writing assignment and memory-based examination like true false and multiple choice answers of questions, promotes plagiarism. The other reason is that passive learning environment makes students unable and unconfident to express their ideas. More over in writing class, language components are taught more than writing practice. That is why they sort cut their writing assignments by plagiarizing. Punishment to the offenders has been done but it does not really solve the problem. The best way to avoid plagiarism is through high learning activity in writing, ample writing guide and constructive feed back from the teachers to gain confidence in writing.
