Isi artikelThe Indonesian Government is encouraging medical schools to adopt PBL, and is providing guidance and assistance for medical schools in managing the changes. However, it seems that faculty are not satisfied with the results of PBL implementation. They do not think that PBL is more effective than conventional curriculum in facilitating students' learning. This paper is discussing why PBL which is being implemented is likely to detract from its effectiveness because of lack of consistency within the curriculum. The discussion on lack of curriculum consistency is focused on inappropriately combined PBL and CBL (Case-Based Learning) in current TLAs (Teaching and Learning Activities). These two approaches are compared and contrasted. How trigger problems are constructed is the main distinction between PBL and CBL approach. Then the discussion is followed by exploration about how inappropriate choice and structure of trigger problems could result in different way. In conclusion, it is suggested to develop a sufficient amount of "real work PBL problems".
