Isi artikelThis study is concerned with the performance of three English pre-service teachers of Indonesia University of Education in Senior High School 8 in Bandung, West Java and the benefits and challenges faced by the three English pre-service teachers in the program. Three data collection; observation, questionnaire, and interview were employed to answer the research’ questions. The assessment of the teachers’ performance was based on teachers’ competence in technical knowledge, pedagogic skills, interpersonal skills. The findings of the study reveal that the three participants showed their competence in several aspects of professional teachers. Regarding the benefits and challenges faced by the participants in this program, the findings indicate that the three participants found that pre-service teaching program provided them with experiences of teaching. Moreover, the participants found challenges when conducting the teaching-learning process. The challenges were mainly in the domains of presentation and instruction and classroom interaction. Therefore, this study suggests that the cooperation of the university and schools in terms of supervision need to be improved in order to optimize the out come of the program.
