Abstract
Background : Anemia is a condition that is characterized by red blood cell count of the body, amount of hematocrit (Ht), and the amount of hemoglobin (Hb) in red blood cells is below normal. At the national level based on the results of the Household Health Survey in 2005, showed that the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is 50.9%. Anemia is one of the risk factors that can increase the incidence of bleeding especially postpartum hemorrhage. Frequency of bleeding due to anemia during pregnancy is by 15-20%. However, a mother who did not have anemia can experience postpartum hemorrhage too.
Methods : This design of this research is descriptive analytic unpaired categorical using retrospective approachment. The samples is all pregnant women who gave birth at Atma Jaya Hospital counted from January 2013 to December 2014. Researchers using secondary data by taking the results of the data through medical records.
Result : There was no association between anemia in pregnant women with postpartum hemorrhage in Atma Jaya Hospital in 2013-2014. Results of analysis using the chi-square showed p = 0.303, it means no significant. Calculation of relative risk (RR) showed that the risk of postpartum hemorrhage anemia resulting increase of 1.05-fold greater than with anemia.
Conclusion : The prevalence of pregnant women have anemia is 34.3% while the prevalence of pregnant women postpartum haemorrhage incidence 29.5%. The prevalence of anemia among pregnant women with postpartum hemorrhage at Atma Jaya Hospital in 2013 - 2014 amounted to 35.5%, but there was no significant relationship between the two (p> 0.05)
