Abstract
Background. Bullying behavior is a health problem in the world, the prevalence is increasing. Bullying behavior can occur at any age and level of education. In Indonesia, data on the prevalence of bullying behavior still exist, especially in Jakarta.
Objectives. To find a profile of bullying in Tarakanita 2 Junior High School, North Jakarta.
Methodology. This study is a cross-sectional study on 281 students of SMP Tarakanita 2, March and October 201. Respondents filled in a questionnaire of demographic data and the Olweus Bullying Questionnaire (OBQ). Data was analyzed by univariate descriptive.
Results. Of the 281 students of SMP Tarakanita 2, North Jakarta, there are 23.8% of victims, 12.5% of victims and perpetrators, perpetrators of 8.5%, and 55.2% observers. Most types of bullying behavior is verbal bullying (46.6%), relational (24.5%), physical (22.1%), and cyberbullying (6.7%). Location often bullying behavior is in class (when the teacher is not in class) (39.3%) and the status of the most frequent perpetrators were classmates (68.2%) as well as the reporting of bullying often is on friends (34.2%).
Conclusions. The prevalence of bullying behavior is increasing among teenagers. Bullying in junior high school students Tarakanita 2, North Jakarta is approximately 44.8%. The existence of bullying behavior in schools need to be detected as early as possible in order to prevent and intervene the physical and mental impact
