Abstract
Objective : This study was conducted to define the characteristic profile of patients having pulmonary tuberculosis and to describe the implementation of diagnosis procedure according to the Ministry of Health and ISTC
Method : The present retrospective observational study was carried out on 105 patients having pulmonary tuberculosis. The samples were taken from medical record at Atma Jaya Hospital Jakarta between January to December 2014 randomly.
Result : the proportion of male was found as much as 70.5% and the proportion of patient in their productive age were found in 93.3% out of total sample, consecutively. Far advanced lession are the most common lession (48.6%). Smear examination on acid-fast bacilli (AFB) were done on 56 patient (43,8%). Patient with diabetes mellitus was found in 19 patient (18.1%) and patient with HIV positive was found in 9 samples (8.6%). 46 samples (43.8%) known to have anemia, which 30 of them (65.2%) were having a mild anemia.
Conclusion : In our study, pulmonary tuberculosis was found more in male (70.5%) furthermore,they are in productive ages (93.3%). Thorax RÖ showed that far advanced lessions was the most common lession (48.6%). The tool for diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis was still using radiologic imaging (Thorax RÖ; 100%) and clinnical findings and less of them (43,8%) were diagnosed using smear sputum on AFB. In Atma Jaya Hospital, The pulmonary tuberculosis was diagnosed not using the recommendation of The Ministry of Health or the ISTC. Diabetes mellitus, HIV and anemia are an important comorbid to note in our sample as well.
