Isi artikelBackground: Anticardiolipin Antibody (ACA) is one of antiphospholipid antibodies group. These heterogenous antibodies are known exist in a clinical condition which named Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS). Pathological mechanism of these antibodies are inducing thrombosis in any part of vascular system in the body. The risk of thrombosis on pregnancy can manifest as: recurrent abortion, preeclampsia-eclampsia, growth retarded of the fetus and fetal death. Those conditions are named as pregnancy morbidity. It is needed laboratory examination to investigate pregnancy morbidity. ACA is proposed for the first liner investigation tool. Method: ELISA technique has been used for detection of ACA IgG and IgM. The analytical performance of these tests have been reported and in this research, tests have been conducted for supporting management of pregnancy morbidity patients. Blood samples have been col¬lected from preeclampsia-eclampsia cases, infertility cases with recurrent abortion history and normal pregnant women as control. Result & Discussion: A2X2 table can be constructed from 31 preeclampsia-eclampsia patients and 24 normal pregnancy. Odds ratio calculation yielded that the risk of IgG ACA existence to cause preeclampsia-eclampsia: 11,03. From 76 patients with recurrent abortion, the distribution of IgG & IgM ACA showed that IgG seropositivity: 36,8 %; IgM seropositivity: 35,5 %; both: 22,4%. It is seemed that the titer and frequency of ACA lower than the result reported in Western Countries. Conclusion: ACA examination is needed in the management of pregnancy morbidity. Pregnant women who have strong seropositivity IgG ACA will get higher risk to develop preeclampsia -eclampsia than who have not. ACA seropositivity should be taken into consideration in the management of recurrent abortion.
