Background: Accurate statistics of the incidence of drug eruptions were difficult to obtain. The best data are those obtained from hospitalized patients, whereas data on incidence from outpatients are poorly documented. Therefore, it is of important for clinicians to identify the accurate data of the eruption's types and presumed causative drugs. Objective: Our purpose study was to describe the types of drug eruptions and drugs suspected as causative agent. Methods: This retrospective study performed Medical Record to find out drug eruption cases between January 1999 and December 2001 in dermatology clinic Sardjito Hospital. Drug eruptions and drug suspected causing eruptions were assessed in relation to clinical findings determined by dermatologist. Results: During the study period there were enrolled 235 new cases diagnosed drug eruptions consisted of 136 (58%) males and 99 (42%) females, consisted of exanthematous 95 (40,42%), acneiforms 65 (27.66%), fixed drug eruptions 58 (24.69%), urticarias 8 (3.40%), purpurics 4 (1.70%), lichenoids 2 (0.86%), bullous 2 (0.86%), and nodular eruptions 1 (0.43%). The peak frequency was found in 15-24 years old. Conclusions: Corticosteroids were the most major causative drugs eruptions among all identified causes.
