Introduction Acne vulgaris is one of the most common teenage skin disease. The occurrence of AV in teens and young adults is not only give physical problems, but also psychiatry problems. One of psychiatry problem that rarely analyze is social phobia. The aim of this study is to prove whether there is a relation between AV and social phobia. Methods This study was conducted in 2014 using a cross-sectional design. Samples of this study (n=120) were active students in School of Medicine, Indonesian Catholic University of Atma Jaya who enrolled at year 2012, 2013, and 2014. The severity of acne was determined by GAGS and the severity of social phobia was determined by LSAS. The data was collected primarily and analyzed using spearman correlation test with significance level of p<0,05. Result The prevalence of AV was 100% with 111 respondent (78,3%) had mild severity. The prevalence of social phobia was 20,8% with 15 respondent (12.5%) had mild severity. There was no correlation between AV severity and social phobia severity (p= 0,469). Conclusion The correlation between AV and social phobia was not found statistically. However, this study showed that man has severer AV than woman and junior has severer social phobia than senior. |
