Isi artikelBackground: Leprosy is a chronic disease affecting skin and peripheral ner-vous system with many various skin lesions appearance which can lead to misdiagnosis. Case: A 43-years old woman came from Magetan, East Java, which is an en-demic leprosy area. She complained of having multiple itchy erythematous papules and plaques with polycyclic form on her right arm since 3 months ago. She was treated by doctor and herself as common skin disease. At first, the lesion was diagnosed as tinea corporis according to the skin lesions appear-ance. Sensory test on skin lesions was not performed. A 7-day treatment for tinea corporis did not improve the skin lesions. Later, leprosy was confirmed from skin sensory test and nerve thickening. Granuloma and Langhans cells were positive, whereas acid fast bacilli was negative. The lesions were improved after 1 month treatment with MDT. Conclusion: Misdiagnosis of the leprosy could be diminished by performing skin sensory test and nerve examination.
