Isi artikelIntroduction: Crohn's disease is a chronic ulcero-inflamative on digestive tracts with various symptoms leading to misdiagnosis. Diagnosis is often made by hystopathologic examination from surgery procedure other diseases. Case: A 30-year-old woman with no significant past medical history presented to Atma Jaya Hospital complaining of an abdominal pain and mild diarrhea. The pain was more pronounced in the right lower region of abdominal and radiated to upper mid region. On physical examination, tenderness and a pal-pable mass was found in the right lower region of the abdomen. USG examination supported the diagnosis of an acute appendicitis. Laparotomy was performed and affected tissue was resected. Histopathological examination of the affected tissue showing thickened layer and enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. Microscopic examination revealed ulceration with fissures formation, an increase in the number of lymphocytes, non caseating granulomas with multinucleated giant cells. The histopathologic appearance tipically met with Crohn's disease. Conclusion: The diagnosis of Crohn's disease was not so simple clinically. Histopathological examination is suggested as the only procedure that could confirmed the diagnosis.
