Willingness to Communicate (WTC) has been defined as language learners’ tendency to initiate discource in a particular context with some individuals. It was hypothesized that orientations towards language learning would influence students’ willingness to communicate in a second language and it is considered an important factor which could result in the development of a second language. There were 120 students of SMAK 2 PENABUR participated in this research. The participants were taken proportionally from grade X,XI, and XII. The data collected through survey and were entered into SPSS 2.2 with several statistical tests. In order to evaluate students’ willingness to communicate inside the classroom, willingness to communicate outside the classroom and language learning orientation, the mean, standard deviation and mode were calculated. Based on the findings the participants showed had low score both in WTC inside and outside the classroom. The students’ willingness using L2 is still very low, the language competence, fear of making mistake become the problems for the students in Nsmak 2 penabur. Various activities should be done to increase students’ willingness in communicating using English as L2. |
