Abstract
Background
Research on SCL have been performed previously, but its correlation with class performance have not sufficiently defined.
Objective
The aim of this study were to find the correlation of Student-Centered Learning with class performance by doing meta-analysis and to conduct a systematic review to learn the how SCL affected learning motivation and team work.
Methods
For the meta-analysis, we selected the articles which met the inclusion criteria and found the combined correlation value. For the systematic review, we used the same way as meta-analysis to select the articles.
Results
Through meta analysis we found that the combined correlation value was 0,29 and CI (95%) = 0,21-0,36. It could be interpreted that in practice, SCL had no significant effect to improve class performance. However, the correlation between SCL and class performance was statistically significant.
Conclusion
We found that SCL could improve class performance. In addition, SCL could help medical and health professional students to improve ability to work in team, motivation to learn, communication skills, problem solving and contextuality of their study.
