Isi artikelPrimary hyperparathyroidism is a state where unregulated release of parathyroid hormone (PTH) is found due to hyper-functioning of parathyroid glands. This is the main cause of hypercalcaemia. The incidence of primary hyperparathy¬roidism is approximately 42 cases per 100.000 people on average, and the case increased as age de-veloped, especially in women. Ad¬enoma on single parathyroid gland is often become the most common etiology (around 80% cases, along with multiple parathyroid gland hy¬perplasia [12-15% cases]). Most of the primary hyperparathyroidism are asymptomatic. A number of pa-tients reported several symptoms such as vague neuro-cognitive, in¬cluding depression, fatigue, weak¬ened proximal muscles, languidity, which is often not diagnosed. Pri¬mary hyperparathyroidism diagno¬sis is held based on leveling of PTH and calcium within blood. Diagnos¬tic imaging is often used to iden¬tify location of preoperative par¬athyroid gland disorder and rarely on primary hyperparathyroidism diagnosis. Primary hyperparathy¬roidism maintenance consists of surgical and non-surgical methods, where the first is the best option.
