Isi artikel
Documentary in Practice lays emphasis on unpacking documentary practices and processes from conception to delivery and beyond. Jane Chapman integrates her own experience and other practitioners’ accounts into a measured, well-organized and highly instructive analytical overview of what it means to launch a documentary project and see it through to completion. The book is organized into six chapters. The first five interrogate the complex decision-making processes that attend every stage of project development and management, such as generating ideas, issues of budget and fundraising, research and planning a film, shooting and collecting material and shaping and editing. The sixth chapter examines the ways in which public reactions to the final product may be measured and evaluated and the importance of audience feedback to the filmmaker.
