Dafna Lemish is perhaps uniquely qualified to attempt such a task; she is a noted authority on the literature with a wide range of her own respected research to draw on. In her introduction, she aims to make the work accessible and indeed for the most part, her writing is clear, persuasive and energetic. She is fair in her presentation of the research even when the methodology used and the claims made are quite controversial and clearly at odds with her own approach and point of view.
