Isi artikelOver the last 20 years, the electronic dance music scene has gradually emerged, and clubbing has become a global phenomenon. The dance scene has come to exemplify a new metropolitan and cosmopolitan cultural practice, providing young people with a sense of identity and belonging. The behaviours and styles associated with electronic dance music and clubbing define a new youth culture, which involves an ongoing but increasingly more critical issue because of its strong connections with the use of illicit drugs.
