In welding two different types of steel between Cast Steel of AISI 4340 with ST 50 using SMAW welding required heat treatment after welding process, namely the Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT). In this study the variation of heating temperature used was 850 0C, 400 0C and 650 0C. Determine the microstructure in the area of Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) metallographic testing used optical microscope, while to determine mechanical properties used hardness testing. The analysis showed the formation of martensite and pearlite phase between the HAZ to the respective base metal. The results of the analysis after PWHT shows that the microstructure is formed unchanged while the value of the resulting violence has increased in the HAZ.
