Isi artikelIn recent decades there have been some excellent books about the Disney empire and its ideological views and values. These include Henry Giroux’s (1999) The Mouse that Roared: Disney and the End of Innocence and the classic, although hard to find, How to Read Donald Duck, by Ariel Dorfman and Armand Mattelart (1975). Here, British sociologist Alan Bryman goes beyond the Disney network itself, while adopting an interdisciplinary approach, in fields like the sociology of culture, consumption and industrial relations. In The Disneyization of Society, we see how the Disney ways of marketing and managing have become globally influential and contagious, being copied in various, subtle ways by many organizations and institutions.
