Isi artikelWhat does ‘global’ mean? Does it mean ‘having worldwide reach’ – the ability to send messages from a particular place to different parts of the globe; or ‘having worldwide presence’ – the ability to send messages from, as well as to, different parts of the globe? ‘Media’ can have different meanings, too. Telecoms operators offer pure media – channels of communication and nothing else – but broadcasters like Sky and the BBC fill their media with messages, or content. Media analysis then becomes a matter of culture as well as technology.
