One of degenerative diseases experienced by many elderly is impaired cognitive function, especially in memory function. Geriatric depression is considered has a role on memory decline in elderly. In Indonesia, geriatric depression haven’t receive enough attention, eventhough depression itself can cause memory decline in elderly. This study aimed to determine the relationship of geriatric depression with memory function in elderly. Methods: This research used a cross sectional analytic descriptive method with subjects are 58 people aged 60 years and over that live in Kalianyar, West Jakarta. Depression measured by Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) - 15 and memory function assessed by Word List Memory Immediate Recall (WLMIR) for working memory that part of Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease (CERAD) and saving score for delayed-recall memory. Results: Based on the analysis with Chi-Square test, we found a significant relationship between depression and working memory (p=0,044; OR=3,33) and delayed-recall memory (p=0,028; OR=3,36).
