Isi artikelClinical clerkship is an important stage in medical education. The clinical clerkship is very beneficial for the students to gain the clinical experience and as well as to develop clinical competencies and clinical reasoning ability. Through the clerkship, the students gain clinical learning experiences which are cannot be replaced by learning process in tutorials, discussions, lectures and clinical skill simulations. However, studying in real clinical environment is more challenging for the students, education process and as well as for the teaching hospitals. To overcome these challenges medical schools have to develop symbiotic approach in implementing clinical education. The symbiotic approach is a mutual relationship between medical schools and health services in addressing health care education and services. This collaboration can be done through working together in identifying and planning, developing and implementing, monitoring and evaluating of programs. By adobting this symbiotic approach or collaboration between medical schools and hospital administrations, the students can gain adequate learning experiences without diminish quality of health services in the hospitals. In fact, within this approach, medical schools staffs and students help to improve and maintain the quality of medical services in the teaching hospitals.
