Introduction : Stress is a response to adapt with stressors, either internal or external. Stress alters neuroendocrinology system, which can affect eating habits. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to assess the association between stress and eating habits. Methods : Cross-sectional approach was used for this analytical study. Stress was measured by DASS 42 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42) while eating habits was measured by WCC (Ways of Coping Checklist). Results : This study, which involves 258 respondents, shows that stress will affect appetite, either increasing or decreasing, and also increasing the tendency of eating unhealthy foods. Conclusions : There is evidence that shows association between stress and eating habits (p = 0.000, Spearman Correlation Coefficient = 0.351). This study recommends students to manage their stress and eating healthy foods. |
