Abstract
Background. Primary school teacher with negative perception towards their job can manifest as stress work and if they failed to adapt the stress, psychopathology occured. Objective. Find out the association between work stress and detected psychopathology on teacher in Permai Pluit Primary School. Methods. Study of design is cross-sectional, 31 primary school teachers in Permai Pluit Primary School, Jakarta, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research is implemented at Permai Pluit on October 2014 - January 2015. Respondents are scored by demography quesionnaire, Survey Diagnosis Stress 30 (SDS)-30, and Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90). Datas are analyzed, univariate test, and bivariate test. Results. 31 primary school teachers with range age of 24-66 years mean age of 38 years, 64.5% women, 45% Java ethnic, 74% bachelor degree, 71% married, 39% had 1 child, and 90% with adequate economic status, 9.7% had physical chronic illness. Majority of respondents said that attitude and behaviour of students is fair (discipline, polite, quite); parents are cooperative enough; school regulations is not a workload; school facilities support teaching activities and don’t feel any difficulties in interacting with other work partners. Most of respondents with moderate work stress and 9.7% respondents have positive pscychopathology with 9.6% respondents each with obsessive compulsive, paranoid, interpersonal sensitivity, and others. Fisher test shows there is no association (p = 0.05) between work stress and detected psychopathology. Conclusion. Most of primary school teachers had work stress but 9.7% psychopathology positive was found. Suggestion. A further research is needed with more subjects and measure the association all determinant factors with work stress.
