Abstract
Introduction :Dyslipidemia is one of the major cause in cardiovascular disease which is the most cause of death in the world. Fish oil is known as one of the therapy for dyslipidemia. The purpose of this literature study is to explain the relation of fish oil with dyslipidemia.
Methods:Systematic review method was used with journals from Springer Link, Google Scholar, ProQuest and Clinical Key. The journals used in discussion are research journals with open access to full text journals. Critical appraisal was used to appraise the quality of the journals.
Result: Based on the journals studies, 4 journals using healthy subjects lowers triacylglycerol significantly, HDL and LDL cholesterol both increase and decrease without significance. 10 journals using sick subjects show that by consuming fish oil in adequate dose and duration can lower triacylglycerol, LDL cholesterol, and increase HDL cholesterol significantly.
Conclusion: Fish oil consumption will lower triacylglycerol. Fish oil effects on LDL and HDL cholesterols variate. Fish oil affects dyslipidemia by increasing the activity of LPL and lower triacylglycerol synthesis
