Introduction. Tempeh is often consumed in Indonesia which is affordable, obtainable, and has a high nutriotional level for our bone. Recently, the number of men with osteoporosis is increasing every year, so the researcher decided to conduct further studies on the effect of the amount of tempeh on bone density in male rats. Method. This research used 27 Wistar rat which is divided into three treatment groups: control group, tempeh moderate group and the high number of tempeh group. The treatment last for 20 days and on the 21th day the researcher took the femur of rats. Then the bone would continue with the process of demineralization and then cutting tissue and tissue stanning. Furthermore, the researcher would count the number of osteocytes with a magnification of 400x per field of view. Result. Group that had the most number of osteocytes was the high number of tempeh group, the second most number was tempeh moderate group, whereas the group with a least average number of osteocyte was control group. From the calculation result of data analysis, the ratio of the amount of tempeh given to each group have a meaningful and significant results. Conclusion. Tempeh can increase our bone density. |
