Abstract
Background: Indonesian’s Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in 2010 are 210 per 100.000 live births. The mayor cause of maternal deaths are bleeding, infection, and eclampsia. Antenatal care is expected to reduced MMR.
The aims of study are to know the influence of knowledge, attitude, and practice of pregnant women towards antenatal care in this district.
Methods: The study design was cross-sectional analytic. The samples were taken from 48 mothers who gave birth at 4 health facilities at Penjaringan district by purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted in November through interviews with questionnaires and were analyzed using Fisher’s exact test.
Results: The range of respondents’ age are between 21-35 years (91.67%), and 37,5 % of them were senior high school or university (37.5%), also 60.4% of mother’s parity are between 2-4 and 95,8% mothers’ have vaginal birth delivery by midwife, 91.7 % of them have gestational age around 9 months. Most of respondents have good knowledge (89.58%), best attitude (87.5%), and 85,42 % of them have good behavior. For 81.25% of respondents have compliance towards the frequency of antenatal visit and all of them receive TT immunization and mostly consume iron tablette. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance of respondents (p<0.05), between attitudes and compliance of respondents (p<0.05), and there is also a relationship between behavior and compliance of the respondents (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Knowledge, attitudes, and practice of pregnant women influence their antenatal care compliance.
Suggestion: For further research, consider other external factors that may contribute to the respondents’ compliance.
