Abstract
Background.
There are several factors that influence optimal growth and
development of children, such as nutritional status, immunization status and birth
weight. However, the prevalence of children with disrupted growth and development,
malnutrition, uncompleted basic immunization and low birth weight is still quite high
in Jakarta
.
Objectives.
The aim of this research is to find outthe association of nutritional status,
immunizationstatus, and birth weightwiththe growth and development ofchildren
aged3-5 yearsat Posyandu Kelurahan Penjaringan I, Jakarta Utara.
Methodology
. This research uses a descript
ive-analytical design, with cross
sectional method. Samples are 65 children aged 3-5 years old with their mothers
who came to Posyandu in Kelurahan Penjaringan I during this research and were
taken with purposive sampling method. Data was analyzed by chi-square test, with
a=0,05.
Results and Conclusions.
The result shows that there is significant association of
nutritional status with child growth (p=
0.014), immunization status with child
growth (p=0.013), and birth weight with child growth (p=0.013).
Conclusion
. This study concludes that nutriti
on status, immunization status, and
birth weight affect child growth.
Suggestion.
Growth and development are measured more accurately using cohort
study design. It is preferred to use primary
data to avoid recall bias and invalid data.
It is prominent to have either more samples or more representative population for
better results.
