History taking skill is very essential for medical graduates when they perform their daily tasks as physicians. This skill needs to be highlighted in medical curriculum since there were some evidences of deficiency have been found in history taking ability of medical practitioners. Furthermore, gathering accurate information from patients accounts for more than seventy present focus and right diagnosis and reduces the cost for diagnostic aids. The revised Calgary-Cambridge Observation Guide can be used when developing the curriculum program for history taking skill that emphasized patient's perspective of illness and medical perspective of disease in history-taking. In practice, several methods have been used to teach history- taking skills either instructional or experiential methods using handout, lecturer, training workshop, video-audio recording, role play, and simulated or real patients' involvement. These important skills when gathering patients' history include patient's narrative, question type, listening skills, facilitative response, clarification, time-framing, language and note taking. In order to gain a comprehensive history-taking, general structure has been developed and used widely in most of medical history-taking encounter.
