Isi artikel
We present a theoretical framework for studying the integration of information over time in experimental paradigms involving the successive presentation of printed strings of letters with varying orthographic overlap (orthographic priming). This framework is expressed as a set of six processing principles, five of which are derived directly from the interactive activation model of orthographic processing (McClelland & Rumelhart, 1981), and an additional sixth principle relative to a hypothesized inhibitory resetmechanism. The validity of these principles are evaluated with respect to data obtained from different variants of the orthographic priming paradigm, and related paradigms.
