Thirty samples of milk powder sold in indonesia were analysed using disc assay with spores of bacillus stearothermophylus var calidolactis, yoghurt test with streptococcus thermophilus, brillian black reduction test (BRT). Beta star and enzyme linked ommunosorbent assay (ELISA). The ELISA was used only for detecting penicillin, chloramphenicol and tetracycline. The positive results of antibiotic residues in the samples were detected by disc assay (2 samples), yoghurt test (1 sample) and ELISA (2 samples for penicillin, 1 sample for chloramphenicol and 4 samples for tetracycline). Nevertheless, no possitive results were detected by BRT and Beta Star. All of positive samples analysed by disc assay and yoghurt test also showed positive results in the ELISA. It should be born in mind that the antibiotic residues in milk powder could be a problem from the veterinary public health's point of view.
