Abstract
Candidiasis is an infection caused by Candida sp. Immunocompromised patients are susceptible to Candidiasis. It can be acute or chronic infection. C. tropicalis is one of Candida species that resistant to some drugs used to treat Candidiasis. N. rafflesiana or better known as pitcher plant is a potential plant as a source of antifungal agent to treat candidiasis. This study aims to identify quinone contained in the pitcher fluid and determine the antifungal effect of N. rafflesiana pitcher fluid on C. tropicalis. The design of this study was experimental laboratory study which used disk diffusion method and macrodilution method. In this study, the quinone contained in pitcher fluid was identified. The disc diffusion test didn’t show the zone of inhibition which meant N. rafflesiana pitcher fluid didn’t show antifungal effect of on C. tropicalis, whereas the macrodilution test showed the inhibitory concentration which meant N. rafflesiana pitcher fluid shown antifungal effect to C. tropicalis.
