Isi artikel
A common belief is that gonadal hormones explain why autoimmune illnesses mostly afflict women. (In this article the word hormone indicates gonadal hormone unless otherwise stated.) Autoimmune illnesses are defined immunologically by autoantibodies and, clinically, by common symptoms (arthritis, rash and glomerulonephritis). In the common belief, gonadal hormones are thought to drive autoantibodies, therefore rheumatic disease, and thus to be the cause for the sex skew.l--4 This syllogism is what I call the hormone hypothesis.
