Abstract
Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) composite roofing sheets are used as roofing and clading for industrial and commercial building on corrosive environment. Self drilling screw is used to install conventional roofing sheet to the purlin of the construction which causes hole on roofing sheets. As the result, the hole increases the possibility of roofing sheets failure. The common conventional profiles roofing sheets have a simple crest dimension where the upper side is smaller than the bottom side. The conventional roofing sheets are produced in a continuous lamination machine with a set of simple geometric mouldings.
The new profile of FRP roofing sheet is specially designed to improve the conventional profiles which can be fixed to purlins without holes. The new roofing sheets are fixed to purlins with mechanical locking system. The locking mechanism system of roofing sheets is fulfilled by designing the crest profile where the upper side is wider than the bottom side. This paper describes the designing process of the new profiles, the locking mechanism system, and the production process of the new profiles in a continuous lamination machine.
