This article provides an overview of current issues in the implementation and usage of computers in Latin American schools. As a result of an in-depth study of major reports that have appreared in the last few years (Bennett and Kalaman, 1980; Sanchez, 1989, 1991; Jimenez, 1989; Oteiza, 1988; UNESCO, 1985, 1986; Papagiannis et al., 1987), Ihave identified ten main trends concerning: Policies, Training Programs, Computer Literacy, Software, Hardware, Curriculum Implementation, Sources of Major Initiatives, Communication Networks, Publications, Research. These ten areas analyzed and further discussed by giving a general overview of the situation in Latin America.
