Isi artikel
Instructional development often requires that the instructional designer (ID) interact successfully with the subject-matter expert (SME) (Amstrong and Sherman, 1988; Charlson and Nierengarten, 1989; Morrison, 1985). The structured interview provides one means of achieving the necessary interaction. The ID-SME interaction provides the oppotunity to gather information regarding the initiating problem for an instructional development project and to later conduct subject-matter and task analyses (Rossett, 1987). The quality of the interaction may ultimately influence the quality of the resulting instructional product (Bratton, 1979). Our purposes here is to provide a synthesis of guidelines that instructional designers may apply to successfully interview SMEs.
