Isi artikel
In the analysis of variuos instructional theories, instructional technology and humanistic learning theory are usually placed at opposite ends of the educational spectrum. Simplistic Characterizations of "affective" versus "mechanistis" domains tend to be the order when discussing these two approaches to instruction. Are the two models truly incongruous, or can one find sufficient commonnality that may lead to some degree of reconciliation? Thia article attempts to make a positive link between the two models based on dichotomies found in learning theory. Specifically, the discussion will focus on two idea pairs: (1) external control versus learner control, and (2) teaching strategy ("how to") versus teaching facts ("about"). These two examples are illustrative of the changes in thought and practice among technologists as evidenced by a survey of the recent literature.
