Abstract
Wind turbine is one of the alternative energy conversion machine that produces electricity by using wind energy as a driving force. At this moment, wind turbine is mostly used as a substitute for alternative energy sources to replace fossil energy sources. In this thesis will discuss the design process of a Savonius wind turbine. By looking at the wind conditions in Indonesia that have average wind speeds, the suitable wind turbine is vertical axis wind turbine Savonius type that has a large enough torque prefix. In the design process will analyze the reaction of the support, force analysis, deflection analysis, stress analysis, construction safety, and the number of turbine blades analysis. The most optimum Savonius wind turbine that has been made in this thesis is a Savonius wind turbine with three blades.
